Cottonwood Shores utility crews accidentally ruptured an eight inch pressurized raw sewer line on Tuesday afternoon around 3 p.m. while installing a grinder pump and sewer tap near FM 2147. Utility crews repaired the break but not before some of the effluent flowed onto the land near the break and possibly made its way overland into Lake LBJ.

The colorful paint dotting roadsides along Western Bit in Horseshoe Bay proper are indicators of two upcoming capital improvement projects. Oh, what a difference a year does not make. During the previous August, all the talk at Baylor concerned quarterback Robert Griffin. 12 months later Griffin remains the guy; he proved it in the 2009 season by playing just three games. A severe knee injury ended his campaign before September turned into October, and the Bears turned a 2-1 record into 4-8 numbers.
Griffin, from Copperas Cove, connected on 60% of his passes as a freshman in 2008.

The Llano City Council held an abbreviated special meeting Monday night, discussing only two agenda items after a public hearing for an annexation request by Lee and Virginia Duncan. Although there have been no objections raised to the proposed annexation of the Duncan property (on RR 152, next to the Legend Oaks apartments), the rigid timetable mandated by state law required the city to hold two public hearings before the next regularly scheduled meeting September ...

COMANCHE--"Bend, don’t break," was the Jackets’ rallying cry, August 27, at Comanche. Bend? Bend?! The body of a contortionist selected for the next edition of Ripley’s Believe it or Not didn’t bend as much as Llano did before pulling out a no-break 18-12 win in the season opener.

WIMBERLEY-- It’s a start—a real good start for Marcos Vallejo, the Llano High junior who may be the only athlete in Texas upset with an All-State year. And he was just that in 2009, but he didn’t achieve the triumphs he thought he should garner, and others questioned him, too, about his drop-off from his freshman campaign.
So, with the prologue behind us, we’ll tell you Vallejo finished a fine fifth in a field of 114 talented youngsters& ... (1 photo attached to this item.)

It seemed like old times. Well, not real old. Samantha Lopez was the first Lady Jacket to find the finish line at the Wimberley cross country meet, and twin Amanda was the second—and not too far behind. Samantha was eighth overall in a terrific field of 112, and her time for two miles was 13 minutes, 18 seconds. (1 photo attached to this item.)
